December – NYC: Craftsmanship, Curation & Cheer With Kentshire
A final toast to 2023 in NYC we spent an elegant evening with Carrie and Matthew Imberman of @kentshire. Tucked in a private salon between the holiday lights and displays on @bergdorfs 7th floor, we gathered around the beautifully lit cases of antique and estate jewelry and gazed over the precious jewels and festive costume jewelry.
December – NYC: A Peek Inside The Magical World Of Larkspur & Hawk
The royal treatment with royal jewels. New York members were in the presence of “royal” jewelry with Emily Satloff of @larkspurandhawk. Emily guided us through her designs which were paired with inspirations of antique jewels from her personal collection and captivated us with an excerpt from The Treatises of Benevenuto Cellini on Goldsmithing and Sculpture on the art of foiling.
December – London: FabYULEus Holiday Festivities – The Crown Jewels
We are still pinching ourselves after our private tour of the Crown Jewels in London. Led by the 405th beefeater into the iron gates after hours, we had the castle to ourselves to immerse in history, stories and the star attraction- the jewels.
December – LA: Pushing the Norm with Polly Wales
With holiday jewelry events launching all across town in LA, we found ourselves headed to Highland Park where we had the loveliest of afternoons having truly heart-touching conversations with designer @pollywales.
November – NYC: Luz Camino: A Bit of Universe Book Party
After a bustling day at @bergdorfs exploring the @luzcaminomadrid cases, we made our way to the upper east side and cozied up for a wonderful talk by Luz about her book “A Bit of Universe”. Surrounded by jewelry friends and flowers, we toasted her 50 year career, inspirations, and vibrant creations.
November – NYC: Mikimoto Pearl Masterclass
Mikimoto breathed a bit of magic into the start of our holiday season with a private Pearl Masterclass inside their 5th Avenue salon. Inside the sunlit, pearly-walled salon, we learned all about the story of the Mikimoto pearl, which was born some 130 years ago.
November – NYC: Luz Camino – A Closer Look at the Jewels
A night at @bergdorfs is always fantastical especially when visiting jewelry friends. Spanish jewelry designer @luzcaminomadrid, known for her wondrous and poetic designs, held a private viewing of her most recent pieces at The Jewellery Salon at Bergdorf Goodman for Gem X members.
November – London: Unveiling the Mystery of Vedic Astrology with Anna Kerr
Reading by the fire took on new meaning with a visit from @annakerrjewels. Members gathered for coffee with fine jewelry designer Anna Kerr to view her new collection designed in accordance with the principles of Vedic Astrology. Not only is she a certified Gemologist, but Anna is also studying under a renowned guru and spiritual leader in Mumbai.
November – NYC: Jewels of Salon Art + Design
It was an afternoon of new discoveries, amusing stories and jewelry reunions. Gem X arrived at Salon Art + Design to see a jewelry panel featuring members @houseoflif @gemcollector @chrisdaviesnewyork.
November – NYC: Guided Tour of Garden of Green
In the Hall of Gems at the @amnh, members explored the fantastical world of @vancleefarpels, Garden of Green. Led by @jmwheels and @malenkaya_katie, we traveled through time and shades of green learning the history and enchanting stories of each piece in the exhibition.
November – London: The New Piercing Subculture With Hannah Martin
An intimate evening of self expression with the iconic @hannahmartinpierced. Members gathered in Martin’s Clerkenwell studio to view her new collection of bodily adornments and get pierced in-house.
October – NYC: An Evening of Caviar & Carats at the Briyony Raymond Atelier
Cheers to a marvelous Monday night with @brionyraymondnewyork. Briony welcomed us into her new atelier for an enchanting evening of jewels, champagne, and caviar.
October – NYC: Unveiling Ming’s Origins Collection
When we heard that Ming Lampson was visiting NYC, we jumped at the chance to see her newest treasures at @stephenrusselljewelry NYC. After an introduction by author (and major Ming fan) @vivienne.becker, @mingjewellerylondon showed us ORIGINS, a collection inspired by the earliest forms of jewellery – primeval ornaments made of pebbles, stones, shells, animal teeth, claws- reimagined as sleek, comfortable modern jewels.
October – NYC: Breakfast with Hemmeler
On a chilly October morning on the gracious invitation of Hemmeler Jewelery, we were treated to breakfast and a Fall viewing of the house’s latest creations. Founded in 1839, Hemmeler are a forth generation German fine jewellers, known for their exacting craftsmanship and exploration of simplicity and elegant restrained in their designs.
October – NYC: Gems & High Tea with Vishal Kothari
High tea and high jewels is the way to go on a fall Sunday afternoon @ladymendls . Vishal Kothari from VAK Jewels was in town from Mumbai, and we could not miss the chance to see his new creations.
October – NYC: An Evening With Broken English Jewelry & David Webb
On a cobblestone street in Soho, Gem X members were dazzled by the glittering cases at @brokenenglishjewelry new store. Every shelf and stand was filled with new and vintage collections.
October – NYC: Springtime Gems with Jean-Noel Soni of Top Notch Faceting
We love when Jean-Noel Soni comes to town. Gem X members were lucky enough to visit @topnotchfaceting, where he shared his latest collection of freshly cut gems from around the world.
October – London: A Bejewelled Homecoming with Polly Wales
Not much beats a Saturday afternoon of baubles and bubbles, especially when the baubles are the creations of the incredible jeweler Polly Wales! It’s hard to say what was more fun. Our chat with @pollywales, which was humorously moderated by @liabeau, about her journey from a canal boat in London to her own shop in LA and all the gems in between.
September – NYC: A Night at the Ballet: Balanchine’s Jewels
It was a rainy Sunday afternoon and we spent it in beautiful company…at the @nycballet finale performance of Balanchine’s “Jewels.” Each of the three dazzling movements was costumed in a different jewel color. Emeralds moved at Fauré’s romantic pace, while Rubies pulsed to Stravinsky’s jazz- like a “shot of espresso” according to @joshbarone.
September – NYC: The Art of Indian Enameling with IVAR Jewelry
Stepping into IVAR Jewelry in NYC transported us into a world of Indian culture, joyful colors and creative dreams come true.
