We take turns curating jewelry experiences that will be of interest to our members. Typically, you will receive 2-3 invitations each month, ranging from online chats, to in-person talks, to excursions. Past events include private tours to workshops and lectures with The Met, the Frick Collection, the Cartier mansion, L’Ecole Van Cleef & Arpels, Sotheby’s, Christies, the Cooper Hewitt and the Museum of Art and Design. You can read more about past events here.  Gemflix replays are available here.

Our mission is to seek the jewelry x factor – the magic of jewelry found in social experiences, storytelling and sharing. We find and experience them in each other’s company. In addition to bringing members exclusive, jewelry-centric experiences, Gem X connects members with other inspiring jewelry enthusiasts, all with a vetted connection to the industry. These connections have sparked new jewelry opportunities for our members, like new business ideas, new professional collaborations and more.

Event size depends on the host and venue. Our events have ranged from intimate discussions to larger receptions and panels.

Gem X has physical chapters in New York City, London and Los Angeles.  There are plans underway for a chapter in Miami as well, and we have a global presence with members from some 30 different countries.

We charge a reservation fee for most Gem X events.  Fees go towards administrative costs as well as thank you gifts for our hosts. Our events fall in the range from $20 to $50 for cocktail/light bites events, $75-250 for meals and $100+ for excursions or travel. Specific details will be provided on every Gem X invitation.

Event fees are non-refundable.

For most events, our hosts define a headcount limit which we try to respect.  As such, RSVPs are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.  If an event becomes over-subscribed, we start a wait list.

Some events will have the option to purchase tickets for guests.  Others are exclusive to subscribed Gem X members only. Please refer to the instructions on the event invitation.

We frequently limit the number of members who can attend and event to ensure an intimate experience for attendees. We carefully track attendance for each event and if one becomes over-subscribed, we start a wait list. We do our best to ensure that all members have equal access to events. If you are a member and this is a concern for you, please get in touch with us.

If you can no longer attend an event you RSVP for, we ask that you give us at least a day’s notice. We maintain wait lists and wish for all our members to have a fair chance to attend limited headcount events. If you do not show up to an event without giving us notice, we reserve the right to drop you from our membership list.

We are always welcoming of fellow jewelry enthusiasts to share in our journey. If you would like to introduce someone new to Gem X, please ask them to submit a member application and to include your name in the referral.

Yes!  2020 marked our first year of Gem X excursions, and we have planned trips to Tucson, Paris, Lisbon and Geneva. We host as least one excursion a year.  Excursion invitations will be sent with a large lead time to allow members to plan ahead.
