We had the pleasure of spending a Sunday afternoon with TW McClelland at Tamsen Z. Overlooking Central Park, we previewed a curated selection of Tim’s latest work and collection Botanical Astronomy. Some of the works included a necklace with plumes of gold illustrating a solar flare, gold flower motif earrings and whimsical rings such as “The World’s Smallest Yacht” and “Beautiful Boy” which has a playable ruby ball maze. It was a joy to listen to Tim guide us through his collection and have the chance to try on a few of his works. We took a trip to the Park Avenue Armory for a VIP visit at the Salon Art & Design show, were we visited with American artist Michele Oka Doner at the Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery and Brazilian jeweler Fernando Jorge. NYC members spent the afternoon for a private viewing of the collaboration between Les Enluminures and Joy BC. Beyond Sight is a beautiful melding of contemporary and medieval works. Joy’s pieces felt perfectly at home amongst Les Enluminures’ collection of manuscripts and jewels from the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Crafts Council Maker Trustee Melanie Eddy began her fantastic evening for Gem X London, hosted at the Craft Council headquarters earlier this week. Founded in 1972, the Crafts Council is the national charity for craft, advocating for the education, support and showcasing of exemplary British craft, sustaining the work of makers of all mediums and showcase their work to collectors on a global scale – most notably at Collect, the leading international fair for contemporary craft and design. We had the incredible opportunity to tour the traditional jewellery collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum, guided by none other than Jane Perry, the brilliant curator behind the display. Nestled at the top of a winding staircase in the heart of the jewellery gallery, this beautiful collection is the only one to so comprehensively span traditional jewellery in Europe—showcasing everything from intricate filigree clasps and Norwegian wedding crowns to gorgeous enamel work and delicate hairpins.
We are thrilled to welcome our new members this month.

The Harvard University’s Museum of Natural History holds a vast collection of over 100,000 mineral samples that has been assembled since the late 18th century. Among the 1,000+ pieces in its gem collection, the most prized is the Hamlin Necklace. The necklace was created by Augustus Hamlin in the late 19th century to showcase eighteen stunning tourmalines from the Mount Mica Mine he owned and operated in Maine. Raquel Alonso-Perez, curatrix of this incredible collection, joined us for a virtual conversation to discuss the museum’s iconic pieces, including the Hamlin tourmalines.
