Through the end of the year, we would like to give back to supporters of the Gem X Scholarship with the chance to win a little holiday cheer. The one-of-a-kind Gem X Swag Box includes our 2023 limited edition Gem X T-shirt (bearing artwork by a surprise talent, yet to be revealed), a winter beanie hat emblazoned with our favorite logo, and more goodies. To enter, donate $20 or more to our Scholarship Gofundme, from now through the end of the year, and include “Happy Scholar Days” along with your full name in the comment. Only members will be considered!
Leading up to Thanksgiving, Gem X members from around the world logged on for our two Fall Virtual Member Mixers. We put on some seasonal jewels and chatted with jewelry friends, distant and near, all from the comfort of our homes. A huge thank you to our incredible Core Members Ilias, Joanna, Marina and Steph for arranging and hosting the mixers. Keep an eye out for invitations and on our calendar of events to see when future mixers, in-person events and gemflix talks will be held.
Another sparkling holiday season is fast approaching, which can only mean one thing: the return of our Gem X “Secret Santa”!
Here’s how it works: RSVP here by Saturday, December 3rd, to receive mailing details for a fellow Gem X’er. Be sure to include your current mailing address in your RSVP. Then start shopping or creating a gem-themed gift for your recipient! Our suggested spend is $23-30 plus shipping (while we have members worldwide, don’t worry, we’ll find someone nearby). And voilà! Within a few weeks, you’ll receive a sparkly surprise from another Gem X’er. Happy gifting!
Gem X NYC had a busy month visiting some of our favorite designers. Kicking off our month, we were transported into Palazzo Prounis, an enchanting miniature house of jewels created by Jean Prounis and Carmen Mazarrasa. Over mulled wine, delicious nibbles and beautiful surroundings, Jean’s jewels came to life with stories and history. Member were also invited into Salon Show where Lauren Adriana exhibited her meticulous, bold, architecturally stunning jewels. The use of unconventional gemstones, cutting-edge technology, and timeless designs all left us in awe. At Bergdorf Goodman, Gem X favorite Loren Nicole made her debut. We beelined to her chic stack of glorious 22k gold chains, featuring juicy emeralds, graduated amulets and an ancient Persian bronze arrow. Then, we got an early start on our holiday wishlist with a visit to Mahnaz Collection last week, to see the mesmerizing jewels of Jacqueline Rabun. Simultaneously meditative and delightfully playful, her pieces put us in a happy trance.
Members in London gathered for a colorful feast for the eyes and insightful conversation for the mind at the wonderful gallery Objet d-Emotion, where one of our favorite journalists Melanie Grant led a conversation with jeweler Sharon Khazzam, and gallery owner Valery Demure all about the magical power of jewelry, strong women and emotions. The conversation took us on a journey into Sharon’s life and work, from her upbringing in Iran through to her artistic practice in her studio in New York City. The passion was evident in the steamed up window of Objet d-Emotion!
