The Craft Council's Jewelry Collection
Hosted by Gem X Core Amy Ainscough and Craft Council Maker Trustee Melanie Eddy
“We believe craft skills and knowledge enrich and uplift us as individuals and can change our world for the better”. With these words, Crafts Council Maker Trustee Melanie Eddy @mne_eddy began her fantastic evening for Gem X London, hosted at the Craft Council headquarters earlier this week. Founded in 1972, the Crafts Council @craftscouncil is the national charity for craft, advocating for the education, support and showcasing of exemplary British craft, sustaining the work of makers of all mediums and showcase their work to collectors on a global scale – most notably at Collect, the leading international fair for contemporary craft and design.
Members gathered for an intimate drinks reception and private viewing of the Council’s curated selection of jewelry from its sensational craft archive, including the likes of Charlotte De Syllas and Dorothy Hogg, before having the wonderful opportunity to see the newly renovated collection space, with the chance to handle some pieces ourselves and learn more about the exceptional techniques developed to create them. Thank you to the Crafts Council for hosting such an insightful and educational evening!
