“The Body Transformed” Tour at The Met
Hosted by Beth Carver Wees
What is jewelry? Why do we wear it? What meanings does it carry? These are the questions that the Met’s “The Body Transformed” jewelry exhibit aim to answer. Gem X had the pleasure of a privately guided tour of the exhibit with Beth Carver Wees, Ruth Bigelow Wriston Curator of American Decorative Arts. We saw and heard about a selection from some 230 objects drawn almost exclusively from The Met collection, including a dazzling array of headdresses and ear ornaments, brooches and belts, necklaces and rings.
